As the final chapter of the ‘DC Extended Universe’ draws to an end with the release of James Wan’s Aquaman and the Last Kingdom, the future of the DC Universe is something to be excited about, although, that release is still a while away. Everyone’s focus now turns on James Gunn’s quest of rebooting the entire franchise with the release of Superman Legacy which is expected to be the focal point of the entire redesigned universe.

Superman in a different light

If you are among the fans who are excited to witness this new phase you are in luck. One of the directors and co heads of the new revamped DC Universe along with Peter Safran, James Gunn, has shed light on the project. He took to Instagram to announce that the legacy had begun as of the 29th of February for principal photography.

This date marked the 65th anniversary of the superhero’s imaginary birth in most versions, so it was quite an appropriate date to commence shooting the next chronicle of the superheroseller’s saga, the one worthy of his name. Gunn also showed the first image of what the emblem worn by David Corenswet is going to be. The Superman emblem adjustment retains the close color scheme to the Superman follower but shifts the base palette closer to that of a traditional template. Lucas crafted an emblem that appears to be based on the original version.

The Beginning of Rebirth for the DC Universe

The fans are wondering now if Gunn’s Superman Legacy has the potential to pave the way for the rest of DC’s Elseworlds stories, the former’s What If. For this to happen, it is first essential to ensure the successful completion of this new! Superman project in the time where not only the demand for superhero films is decreasing.
