Good news for Akira Toriyama fans! ‘Sand Land’ already has a streaming release date, and the post-apocalyptic anime is loaded with unreleased content

‘Sand Land: The Series’: Akira Toriyama’s adventure debuts on Disney+ with extended storyline

Last year saw the release of Sand Land, an animated feature based on Japanese artist Akira Toriyama’s manga miniseries in Japan. It told the tale of a sheriff and a demon traversing a barren wasteland which had every prospect of gripping the audience. The movie performed poorly at the box office, most likely due to the competing release of Hayao Miyazaki’s The Voice and the Heron on the same date.

Currently, audiences around the world have a reason to be excited as Sand Land is all set to debut as a streaming series that has additional material to correspond with the plot.

‘Sand Land’ Gets a New Title and New Episode

On March 20, 2024, Disney+ will allow people to watch the first episode of the new season, Sand Land: The Series. The upcoming season incorporates the first seven episodes which are the original movie, edited for television along with new scenes. On March 27, the first new episode of season three will air allowing viewers to see the story told over 13 episodes.

The second half of the season introduced ‘Forest Land’ a new place designed by the creator. This follow-up will serve as both a follow-up and an epilogue completing the story in the manga while increasing the scope of the story.

A Practical Presentation

The transition from movie format to series presents more opportunities for plot development and suspense building.

Sand Land: The Series also promises new characters and additional conflicts to enhance the story. Followers of Toriyama can expect an abundance of humor and nice moments interspersed with action, only this time they’ll be able to cover the story’s themes and elements in greater depth.

Release on Disney+ Spain

Although Sand Land: The Series will be released on Disney+ Spain, it is still left uncertain whether Spanish dubbing is going to be available. Disney+ has been under fire for the slow release of dubs for anime titles such as Phoenix: Eden17 and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Whether Sand Land will see this resolved remains to be seen.

New Adventures in a Series Format

Sand Land: The Series is Akira Toriyama’s latest work, so Sand Land can be reimagined as a series of animated adventures. Even ‘Forest Land’ inclusion means a lot more surprises from this adaptation making it a must watch and enjoy for all anime fans.
