While Ryan Gosling has already tried out the action genre with movies such as The Invisible Agent and The Nice Guys, there are fans who still want to see him in a superhero role. Fans would be interested to know that Gosling actually played a super hero in The Unbelievables already.

Ryan Gosling is on a high tide in his career and there are many who are curious whether this man will don the superhero suit. The truth is that Gosling did do that back in 1999, a few years before the world got to know him.

Before he became famous for The Notebook, there were people like Gosling who had lesser known roles such as Young Hercules and The Unbelievables which he acted in. The Unbelievables was supposed to be a combination of The Incredibles and Jupiter’s Legacy which was created by the same people.
Although it appears to be a TV movie on IMDb, The Unbelievables was actually the pilot episode for a series that was never made, directed by Ed Solomon, who was the writer for Now You See Me, being only 23 minutes in duration. Steve Carell and Tim Curry were also among other unexpected stars within the cast.

The narrative focused on the superheroes who had retired from superhero activities. It was set in the contemporary, where the retired heroes had grown old, founded families, and still met occasionally for a game of scrabble and some chit-chat.
Gosling portrays Josh, Action Armstrong’s son (the superhero who the protagonist, Corbin Bernsen, plays), who had some of his father’s super-powers but weaved them only for simple purposes, like assisting for the basketball to get into the net.
Part of the charm of the series was a parody of what this genre was about, but it was somewhat awkwardly done with a few good one-liners and most of them not hitting home. In the end, that decision of the network answered whether to go further with the pilot or not, and now was evidently stuck before reaching orbit. In retrospect, maybe that was for the better and made it possible for Gosling to gain stardom out of different sorts of items.
