The Regime, featuring the actress Kate Winslet, was released on Max on March 3 and has got viewers interested in whom it is meant to model. Miniseries created by Will Tracy plots a year in the life of a contemporary European regime that is falling apart, adding a touch of political satire.
Though the plot of the series gives no clear idea about the country it depicts, the very attentive audience should understand the clues of its imaginary scenario. The flag and coat of arms, the republic, which is peopled by young soldiers and located somewhere in the mountains of Central Europe, more resemble those of Germany or Austria. The theory is further supported by shooting locations in Austria and parts of the UK.
Also mention of cobalt deposits which are available in Finland and mention of sugar beet as the official vegetable which grows in Russia, France and Germany will be countries that many would be familiar with. As per The New York Times report, Tracy was inspired by various political figures from Syria, Romania, and Russia who came together in order to develop an intricate narrative that encapsulated real world dynamics while being purely fictional.
